Item 47: IRI (International Roughness Index) • Definition: A statistic used to estimate the amount of roughness in a measured longitudinal profile • Extent Requirement: All paved NHS and principal arterials, rural minor arterial Sample Panel sections
Item 47: IRI (cont’d) • Guidance: • Code a default date when IRI date is unavailable • Measure annually for NHS sections • Every 2 years for other sections • Include structures and railroad crossings in measurement
