Rules & Regulations (extract) • High innovationvalueof the business proposalswith a brandnewtechnology in nanotech or polymer-basedmaterials. • There are no restrictionsofprovenience, nationality, typeofeducation, age. Eligibility • Twomembers for each Team at least. • The Teams’s CEO and the CTO of the future start-up mustbepresent at the Final Contest. Team • SpinoffscontrolledbySMEs or largecompaniescannotparticipate. • Alreadyexisting and idipendententerprises can enteriffoundedfromlessthantwoyears. Lessonslearned • at least 5-7 years to launch a start-up • itis important to encourage researchers to become entrepreneurs • a positive environmentisrequired (finance, business support, management) • be an excellent researcher isn’t conditio sine qua non for the success of a start-up • the creation of a start-up can be an important outlet for a career path • itis easier to create a new company than changing an existing one 22
