REMINDERS for your POETRY ANTHOLOGY. DON’T PLAGIARIZE. If you take any part of another person’s poem, even just one line, it is considered plagiarism. Each poem needs a creative TITLE. Check the SYLLABLES of each line, in the poems that have specific syllable requirements.

Check the SYLLABLES of each line, in the poems that have specific syllable requirements.
Check the RHYME scheme in the poems that have specific rhyming requirements.
Check the NUMBER OF LINES and the NUMBER OF STANZAS that you have in each poem, and make sure they meets the structure requirements.
SONNETS • 14 lines • 10 syllables in each line • Rhyme scheme A B A B C D C D E F E F G G
BALLADS • At least 6 stanzas • 4 lines in each stanza • ABCB rhyme scheme (lines 2 and 4 rhyme) • Needs dialogue • Needs a repeated line • Tells a story
ODES • 4-5 stanzas • 4-6 lines in each stanza • No specific rhyme scheme
HAIKUS • 3 lines • Syllable pattern of 5, 7, 5 • Does not have to rhyme
LIMERICKS • 5 lines • Lines 1, 2, and 5 have 7-10 syllables • Lines 1, 2, and 5 must rhyme • Lines 3 and 4 must have 5-7 syllables • Lines 3 and 4 must rhyme
