What is diet? • Type and amount of food he/she eats • Healthy diet has right balance of nutrients, minerals, and vitamins
Green revolution • Started by Norman Bourlaug • Between 1950-1970 food production around world was increase substantially • New varieties of grains increased yields
What is arable land? • Land that can be used to grow crops • Only 10% of Earth’s surface can be farmed
What makes soil fertile? • Fungi and bacteria by decomposing dead plants and organic debris • Small animals break up soil by letting in air and water
