Math and Reading Placements How do I know which Math class to take? Do I need Reading? Determined by 8th Grade Performance Recommendations made by 8th Grade Math/English Teachers You will need to complete Algebra to meet the Math Graduation Demonstration requirement. You will need to pass the Reading and Writing Graduation Demonstration Exams in order to graduate. Reading classes may be recommended 11

I can register at home : ) Class of 2015 and beyond Online Registration Planning info currently available on LSW’s home page http://lsw.lps.org/ Online registration assistance sessions will take place at LSW on February 7th and 9th from 3:30-6:30 pm. Our registration window will be open from 1/9-2/20/2012. Students may complete online registration at home as long as they live in the Southwest attendance area. Students living outside of our area must submit a High School choice form by January 31, 2012. 14
Count me in for the May visit! Upcoming Dates Middle school visits with counselors and student ambassadors will be held from February 27th through March 2nd. LSW spring visit will be held on May 2. SHOS Information • SHOS: Silverhawks Helping Other Silverhawks • A student-centered, student-led transition program for all LSW 9th graders to: • Mentor and build relationships with • upperclassmen. • Encourage a sense of safety, connection and • academic success. • SHOS begins on August 14th (Freshman First Day) and continues on Tuesdays during Term 1 @ 2 p.m. • More information will be available tonight at the SHOS table which is located in the Commons. 16
