Prepositional Phrases • A prepositional phrase begins with a preposition and ends with a noun or pronoun. • That noun or pronoun is called the object of the preposition. • For example: • with my grandfather • “With” is the preposition. • “Grandfather” is the object of the preposition. • “With my grandfather” is a prepositional phrase.
The easiest way to identify a prepositional phrase is that it will start with a preposition and ends with a “thing”. • For example: • The boy looked at a magazine. • “At” is the preposition • “Magazine” is the object of the preposition or the “thing” • “At a magazine” is the prepositional phrase
