  4. Amendments to the Regulations for Faculty Evaluation at I-ShouUniversity (1) • Paragraph 2 of Article 3 In any of the following circumstances, a faculty member may apply to the Committee for exemption from the evaluation within the application period announced by the Committee: having concurrently served as an administrative head and performed brilliantly in administration as ratified by the President; having been awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award in the previous academic year; having served as a principal investigator of three or more research projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology within the most recent three academic years; having been awarded an award by the University for excellent performance on industry-university collaboration in the previous academic year; or having been bestowed an honor or made a special contribution and been recognized by the University.

  5. Amendments to the Regulations for Faculty Evaluation at I-Shou University (2) • Article 6:A new group for the faculty evaluation is added 3. Preceptor Group: including preceptors employed by the Department of Nursing; they shall be subject to an evaluation of their performance on teaching and counseling & service.

  10. Faculty Evaluation and Responsible Units (3) • Guidelines on Selection of Outstanding Advisors at I-ShouUniversity • II. Candidates for the selection of outstanding advisors shall be full-time faculty members who have served as advisors for at least one year and satisfactorily passed the latest faculty evaluation. Furthermore, there should be concrete evidence indicating that the candidates show great consideration for students, proactively offer assistance and counseling to students, and have other excellent accomplishments.

  11. Faculty Evaluation and Responsible Units (4) • Guidelines on the Evaluation of Teaching and Counseling & Service Performance for Faculty Promotion at I-ShouUniversity • V. Before applying for faculty promotion, faculty members shall first provide the results of three out of the most recent four faculty evaluations they have completed (including both basic and advanced performance), and the result of the most recent faculty evaluation shall be included. A faculty member is eligible to apply for faculty promotion only when one of the following requirements is met: • 1. having received a score of 70 or higher for teaching and counseling & service, respectively, and having been ranked among the top 80% in the group he/she belongs to, if the results of the seventh and/or eighth faculty evaluations are considered:

Teaching-oriented Group: • (1) the score for teaching: having been ranked among the top 80%in the Teaching-oriented group; and • (2) the score for counseling & service: having been ranked among the top 80% within the college (or the Center for General Education) he/she belongs to. • b. Teaching-and-research-oriented Group: having been ranked among the top 80% within the college (or the Center for General Education) he/she belongs to in terms of the score for teaching and counseling & service, respectively. • The passing criteria of the performance on teaching are liberalized for faculty members serving concurrently as administrative heads; in other words, they shall be ranked among the top 90% in terms of the score for teaching.

Before applying for faculty promotion, faculty members shall first provide the results of three out of the most recent four faculty evaluations they have completed (including both basic and advanced performance), and the result of the most recent faculty evaluation shall be included. A faculty member is eligible to apply for faculty promotion only when one of the following requirements is met: • 2. If the results of the ninth and/or subsequent faculty evaluations are considered, except having been ranked among the top 80% in the group he/she belongs to as referred to in the preceding subparagraph, a) a faculty member will also be deemed satisfying the passing criteria if his/her score under the most recent faculty evaluation fell within the top 80% in the group he/she belonged to in the preceding faculty evaluation; b) for a faculty member serving concurrently as an administrative head, he/she will also be deemed satisfying the passing criteria if his/her score for teaching fell within the top 90% in the group he/she belonged to in the preceding faculty evaluation

  14. Faculty Evaluation and Responsible Units (7) The recognition of the scores under the most recent faculty evaluation shall be subject to the scores announced by the Office of Research and Development before the department-level Committees call a meeting. Full-time clinical teachers are required to have received a score of 70 or higher for teaching and counseling & service, respectively, regardless of which faculty evaluations are considered, but they are exempt from the restriction of being ranked among the top 80% in the sub-category (group) they belong to. Upon completion of the annual faculty evaluation, the Office of Research and Development shall announce details about the scores within the top 80% for each group and deliver the evaluation results to the Office of Human Resources for future reference.

  15. Faculty Evaluation and Responsible Units (8) • Guidelines on the Evaluation of Teaching and Counseling & Service Performance for Faculty Promotion at I-Shou University (continued) • VI. To apply for faculty promotion, faculty members satisfying one of the following requirements shall provide the results of at least two faculty evaluations they have completed (including the result of the most recent faculty evaluation) and meet the passing criteria as referred to in Provision V, and at the same time they are exempt from the restrictions as referred to in Paragraph 1 of Provision V:

Faculty Evaluation and Responsible Units (9) 1. having served at the University for less than four years, or having completed only three or fewer faculty evaluations at the University; 2. having been temporarily transferred to another institution of higher education, a state-run or private enterprise, or an organization within the most recent four years; or 3. having been approved to be exempted from the faculty evaluation under the Regulations for Faculty Evaluation at I-Shou University. Faculty members who have been exempted from any of the faculty evaluations under Article 3 of the Regulations for Faculty Evaluation at I-Shou University will be deemed satisfying the passing criteria of both teaching and counseling & service and meeting the requirements as referred to in Provision V.

  17. Faculty Evaluation and Responsible Units (10) • Guidelines on Appointment and Transferring to Budgeted Posts for Project Faculty of College of Communication and Design at I-ShouUniversity • II. • 4. Having earned 120 points or more in terms of Teaching Performance and Counseling & Service Performance respectively under the faculty evaluation in the previous academic year. When applying for reappointment, project faculty members may be exempted from the aforesaid requirements if they have served at the University for less than two years, have held an administrative position, or have made contributions to university administration in the previous academic year.

Faculty Evaluation and Responsible Units (11) • Guidelines on Appointment and Transferring to Budgeted Posts for Project Faculty of College of Communication and Design at I-ShouUniversity • IV.Project faculty members who intend to apply for transferring to budgeted posts shall fulfill one of the following criteria: • 1. Faculty evaluation: • a. The performance on teaching: Havingbeen ranked among the top 30% within the College in the previous academic year, or having been ranked among the top 50% within the University or the College for two years in a row; • b. The performance on counseling & service: Having been ranked among the top 50% within the College in the previous academic year, or having been ranked among the top 80% within the College for two years in a row; and • c. The performance on research: Having been ranked among the top 80% in the sub-category to which a project faculty member belongs in the previous academic year.

  19. Faculty Evaluation and Responsible Units (12) • Guidelines on the Appointment and Transferring to Budgeted Posts for Project Faculty of College of Tourism and Hospitality at I-Shou University • In principle, the term of appointment of the project faculty at the College is one year. Those who meet the following requirements may apply for reappointment: • 4. Having been ranked among the top 80% within the College in terms of the performance on teaching and among the top 90% within the College in terms of the performance on counseling & service under the faculty evaluation in the previous academic year. • When applying for reappointment, project faculty members may be exempted from the aforesaid requirements if they have served at the University for less than two years, have held an administrative position, or have made contributions to university administration in the previous academic year.

  20. Faculty Evaluation and Responsible Units (13) IV. Project faculty members who intend to apply for transferring to budgeted posts shall fulfill one of the following criteria: 1. Faculty evaluation: a.Theperformance on teaching: Having been ranked among the top 30% within the College in the previous academic year, or having been ranked among the top 50% within the University or the College for two years in a row; b.Theperformance on counseling & service: Having been ranked among the top 50% within the College in the previous academic year, or having been ranked among the top 80% within the College for two years in a row; and c.Theperformance on research: Having been ranked among the top 80% in the sub-category to which a project faculty member belongs in the previous academic year.

  21. Faculty Evaluation and Responsible Units (14) • Guidelines on the Recruitment and Appointment of International Project Faculty for Professional Courses by International College at I-ShouUniversity • The requirements for international project faculty to be transferred into a full-time teaching position included in the regular faculty and staff payroll of the University are as follows: • having served at the University for two consecutive years or more; • possessing a Teacher Certificate issued by the Ministry of Education, R.O.C.; • being ranked among the top 80% university-wide and among the top 5% international project faculty responsible for professional courses in terms of the grade in faculty performance assessment for the previous academic year. • The aforesaid requirements are applicable only when there are vacancies for full-time faculty at respective departments (programs) of the College.

  22. Faculty Evaluation and Responsible Units (15) • Guidelines on the Appointment and Transferring to Budgeted Posts for Project Faculty of College of Medicine at I-Shou University • Project faculty members may not be reappointed if they have not been through the faculty evaluation before their appointment end. The College shall conduct a faculty assessment and submit the result to the President for ratification before reappoint these project faculty members. In the following years, the reappointment shall be handled based on their faculty evaluation result where they have been ranked among the top 80% within the College in terms of the performance on teaching and among the top 90% within the College in terms of the performance on counseling & service under the faculty evaluation in the previous academic year. • When applying for reappointment, project faculty members may be exempted from the aforesaid requirements if they have served at the University for less than two years, have held an administrative position, or have made contributions to university administration in the previous academic year.

  23. Faculty Evaluation and Responsible Units (16) Project faculty members may apply for transferring to budgeted posts one semester prior to the reappointment if there is any full-time opening. Project faculty members who intend to apply for transferring to budgeted posts shall fulfill one of the following criteria in addition to meeting Provisions 2 and 3: Faculty evaluation: The performance on teaching: Having been ranked among the top 30% within the College in the previous academic year, or having been ranked among the top 50% within the University or the College for two years in a row; The performance on counseling & service: Having been ranked among the top 50% within the College in the previous academic year, or having been ranked among the top 80% within the College for two years in a row; and The performance on research: Having been ranked among the top 80% in the sub-category to which a project faculty member belongs in the previous academic year.
