The Twin Marine Lifter (TML) System The Twin Marine Lifter System is a Revolutionary Simple, Safe and Cost Effective Marine Heavy Lift System The TML System uses two DP Class 3 vessels that also can be utilised for Heavy Transportation, Construction Support, Subsea Intervention, Pipe laying and Accommodation TMHL
The Twin Marine Lifter System • Consists of two Heavy Transport Vessels (HTVs), each with a versatile lifting arrangement consisting of 2 - 6 lifting arms with inherent motion damping capabilities (= low dynamic forces) • The lifting arms are skidded on/off vessels and can easily be removed, thus converting the vessels into heavy transport, construction support or accommodation vessels • The TML system can lift structures designed for monohull floatovers and crane lift with minor requirements for additional steel other than lift points (re-usable) • The TML system can lift very large objects of “any” shape • The TML system can operate in both shallow and deep water • Low dynamic loads – Limited need for strengthening of topsides to be lifted • The TML system operations are very low on emmissions • The TML system can perform both “float-over” operations and “crane” lift operations and can lift “anything” by use of the winch system • No elements are ”new technology”, just a new combination of known systems • Each TML vessel is identical with accommodation for 100 people, helideck, DP class 3 propulsion and submersible capabilities to -22,75 meters TMHL
TML Technology Description • Lifting capacity of up to 34,000 metric tonnes • TML can operate in both shallow and deep water and is therefore water depth independent • Lift arms with 2,500 and 4,000 tonnes lift capacity • Each TML vessel can be equipped with up to 6 arms that can be adjusted to the dimensions of the lifted object • The arms are 75 m long and can be extended 20 meters • The lift force is created by de-ballasting the buoyancy tanks and at the same time ballasting the ballast tanks • TML arm design reduces forces and movements • The two TML vessels lift the offshore structure on/off the transportation barges • The TML system can install and remove both topsides and jacket structures as well as subsea structures TMHL
TML Technology Status The TML System has been developed in close cooperation with DnV and Marintek/SINTEF from day 1: • Marintek has completed seven (7) model tests of the TML system • Marintek has verified the model test by carrying out dynamic wave response analyses of the TML system using “SIMO” • DNV has prepared a full verification model of the TML system using SIMO and complete sets of analyses have been carried out for typical lifts for all relevant phases of typical lifting operations including phases such as docking/positioning and lift-off • DNV has carried out all relevant hydrodynamic and hydrostatic analyses of the TML system for the lifting modes • The DnV classification of the TML vessels for the 34,000 tonnes system is near completion • Completed detail design for the TML Lifting Arm System including the Control System • Certification of the TML Lifting Arm System is partly completed by DnV Crane Department • DnV has been involved in the design basis of the complete TML system • DnV has undertaken several Hazid’s for typical removal operations using the TML system • Marine operation duration studies performed by London Offshore Consultants • Lump sum prices received for fabrication of both vessels and lift arm system including full scale testing As a result of the above tests, analyses and verification there are no major technical or operational issues outstanding. TMHL are therefore convinced that the TML System will perform its design function safely, efficiently and with minimum environmental impact. TMHL
