Nasscom Report – Feb 2001 Highlights of the NASSCOM Survey • IT software and services professionals in India increased to 4,10,000 by end of 2000 vs. 2,80,000 in 1998-99 • Indian IT industry will need an additional 90,000 professionals in 2001 and about 1,15,000 in 2002, i.e. a total of 2,05,000 • Against this demand 2,60,000 professionals will be available

NASSCOM REPORTIndian Scenario • The software market grew by over 45% (from Rs. 4,950 crore in 1998-99 to Rs. 7,200 crore in 1999-2000) C.A.G.R. 46.8% • It is expected to gross Rs. 9,500 crore in 2000-01. • Focus on e-governance by state governments in India. 19 of the 26 state governments have already announced their IT policy and many others have formed high-level Task Forces. • The IT enabled services sector surpassed all expectation by showing a record growth of over 70% to Rs.4100 Crores in 2000-01
