GIS Advisory Committee Forums • A centralized online location to hold discussions and provide feedback • Each subcommittee has their own forum • All website members can read discussion threads • Only members of the subcommittee or the Advisory Committee will be able to make post
GIS Stakeholder Forums • A centralized online location to specific groups of Alabama GIS consumers and producers • The current list of stakeholder forums include: • College/University • County/Municipal • If you work with stakeholder group and need access to their forum you must submit a request • Only website members that have been assigned to a stakeholder group will see the forum
GIS Forums • Currently all GIS forums are unmonitored, so your post will be viewable immediately after you click “Submit” • It is vital that everyone is considerate and respectful of other people’s opinions • All posts must be appropriate and clean • Profanity, abusive or inappropriate post will be removed and result in loss of website membership

Imagery/LiDAR Subcommittee • The Aerial Imagery Business Plan has been completed (Posted on the website for review) • Pool Resources • Economies of Scale • Standards
Imagery/LiDAR Subcommittee • Objectives from Business Plan • Distribute USGS photography and LiDAR specifications for review to stakeholders. Compile the results for review to ensure their specifications meet the needs of the stakeholders. • Modify existing ADOR Mapping Guidelines and Specifications to reflect the updated specifications, and provide an orderly process for guiding ADOR and County officials.
Imagery/LiDAR Subcommittee • Objectives from Business Plan • Outreach to Federal, State, and Local Government to communicate the Business Plan, enlist and encourage partnerships, receive feedback and comments from the stakeholder community, and determine possible funding sources for future partnerships.
Imagery/LiDAR Subcommittee • Objectives from Business Plan • Establish policies and strategies which emphasize cooperation and coordination among state agencies, federal agencies, county agencies, environmental agencies, regional planning agencies, municipalities, academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, utilities, private companies, and individuals, and other states in order to maximize the cost efficiency.
Imagery/LiDAR Subcommittee • Objectives from Business Plan • Develop acquisition plans for Imagery and LIDAR for the 2012-2013 flying season through existing partnerships with State and Local government. • Identify and develop funding sources for project implementation and long-term maintenance
Imagery/LiDAR Subcommittee 2011 Photography • Agreements have been finalized and data has been received • Imagery has been delivered to ACJIC, USGS, and NRCS • 2011 County Imagery has been loaded in Virtual Alabama.
Imagery/LiDAR Subcommittee • 2012 Photography • Funding Agreements are in process and should be completed by the end of the fiscal year. • Seven full county and three partial county collections were completed – Blount, Butler, Calhoun (p), Dale, Madison (p), Montgomery, Pike, St. Clair, Shelby, and Talladega (p)
Imagery/LiDAR Subcommittee 2013 Photography • USGS (George Heleine) is in the process of making contact with the four counties that are included in the 133 Urban Area program. • Preliminary list of 2013 acquisitions • Baldwin • Calhoun – South Half • Houston • Madison – East Half • Shelby • Talladega – North Half
Imagery/LiDAR Subcommittee Sub-Committee Action Items - Preliminary • Evaluate current ADOR photography specifications and make recommendations for revisions. • Outreach to find additional funding for imagery and LIDAR in 2013. • Follow up on other County imagery acquisitions that may take place in 2013. • Further development of web-based map showing proposed mapping projects.

Executive Council Statewide GIS Goals • Goals • Inventory current GIS data, applications, and services • Virtual Alabama is the key resource for data inventory • Authoritative sources must be identified and used • Leverage pooled resources (coordinate procurement) • Avoid unnecessary costs and duplications of effort • Improve decision-support for statewide issues (standards)

Height Modernization Update • National Geodetic Survey (NGS) released new Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) Coordinates in October, 2011 developed from the re-processing of the past 10 years of data. This new epoch is named NAD 83(2011) epoch 2010. • Passive marks were adjusted to the new CORS epoch. • GEOID12 model developed and is currently in draft form for evaluation. • Substantial updates to the vertical network along the coast were incorporated into these latest adjustments. • One day workshop held in Mobile, Al on August 17th to communicate these changes and how it will affect local users. • Presentations will be made available on line.
