  1. Variations of the Example Exercise 1. Company decides to hire a part-time person to work Tuesdays to prevent 6-day work stretch. 2. What will happen if the part time worker is hired on Saturday instead of Tuesday? 3. Or if the company asks for 1 weekend off out of 3 with the part time worker on Saturday?

  2. 1. Full time demand on Tuesday is 2. W - n = 3 - 2 = 1

  3. Off-Days (n=2): 1. Sun/Mon 2. Mon/Tue • The longest workstretch is 5 days.

  4. 2. The weekend demand is reduced to 1. W - n = 3 - 1 = 2 Off-Days (n=1): 1. Mon/Mon • We are back to one employee working a 6-day stretch each week. • However, everyone gets 2 out of 3weekends off.

  5. 3. One weekend is taken off. W - n = 3 - 2 = 1 Off-Days: 1. Sun/Mon 2.Mon/Sat • Everyone is back to 1 in 3 weekends off but the minimum workstretch is only 5 days.
