  5. Language Arts Journeys Reading Program: • Units comprised of fiction and nonfiction reading selections • Grammar • Spelling • Vocabulary • Writing • Quarterly Skills: • Novels and Book Clubs • Formal Writing Assignment • Speaking/Listening Skills

  6. Independent Reading • Fiction & Non-fiction • Reading in school and at home • Read a grade level equivalent book every 2 weeks • Complete 2 projects during the marking period Information on class website

  7. Math Bridges 4th Grade Series (4th Grade Website) Homework Differentiated classroom lessons and practice Review before quizzes and tests

  8. Science Topics: • Soils, Rocks, and Landforms • Magnets & Electricity • Animal Studies • PSSA Preparation (administered in the spring)

  9. Social Studies Topics: - Pennsylvania - United States Regions • Multiple Quizzes & Tests • District Assessments • Focus on Study Skills

Homework Expectations • Approximately 30-60 minutes per night • Nightly Requirements: • Reading for 15-20 minutes • Parent Initial on Reading Log • Language Arts workbook page(s) • Math workbook page(s) • Parent Initial on Math Log • Science and Social Studies as needed • Support with short term and long term planning

  11. Homework Expectations • Missing Homework Slips • Meets Expectation • Fewer than 3 missed assignments • Approaching the Expectation • 3-4 missed assignments • Improvement Needed • 5 or more missed assignments
