  12. Science • Structures of Life, Magnetism & Electricity, Water • Scientific Writing: Question, Prediction, Procedure, Materials, Data, Conclusion • Conclusions: answering inv. question, discussing prediction, explaining data, evidence

  13. Homework • Planning sheet to fill out daily/binder. • Assignments nightly (Math, Writing or Science) • Book projects, writing assignments • Weekly reading/math log • 3 Extensions

  14. Homework, how to help! 1 ) Provide a quiet time and distraction-free environment. 2) Have the student re-read the directions aloud, highlighting important information. 3) Ask your child, “What part of the question do you understand?” and/or “What part of the questions/directions are unclear?” 4) Ask them to show you strategies that are taught in class. If you find yourself “teaching” them, send them to us for help. 5) Allow them to make their own mistakes. Only by making mistakes are we able to assess where they are independently in relation to the expectations. 6) Ask them to double-check ALL of their work. 7) Have them contact us, or their “Help! I’m stuck!” buddy with specific questions.
