Where to go next ? Where ever you go do it by rocket
Follow in my footsteps… • I started rocketry through a college extended project to simulate the Space Transportation system. • Since then I have done various kit builds and scratch builds for experience on construction and design. • However I still have limited launch experience with only about 10 launches (8 model and 2 mid/high powered). • Recently I did a kit build of a mid powered rocket called King Kraken and achieved my level 1 certification. • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LL_W2FdEFA
Follow in my footsteps… Currently I have a few rocketry project keeping me occupied. • Rocket glider mark 1 and 2 • Three stage model rocket kit • On board flight computer with live telemetry and 9 degrees of freedom sensor for stability and control analysis and simulations • ICSEDS supersonic two stage rocket • ICSEDS Engine group prototype rocket/ Level 2 certification • ICSEDS Engine design group • High powered launch controller
UKSEDS Rocketry competition • UKSEDS are running its first rocketry competition this year. • It will be based on the USSEDS rocketry competition which has been running in the last few years. So eventually we can make it an international competition • It will last around 10 months to give you plenty of time to get your rocket built and launched. • You guys will be the first so I hope you are excited.
UKSEDS Rocketry competition Criteria • Reach an altitude of 1km no more no less whilst carrying a payload of 0.75 kg • Time to Altitude • Carrying a innovative scientific and technological payload. Timescale • Notice of intent - End of November 2013 • Design report – March 2014 • Build report – June 2014 • Launch – August 2014, July and August Launch event • Launch report September 2014 • Winners announced – September 2014 • Next rocketry training day – October 2014
Do your own thing • Make a team (friends, university or national) and tackle your own ideas and projects • Get more experience by building a few kits and scratch built rockets. • Go into a specific field, say electronics and scientific experiments (REXUS), supersonic, materials, structure or aerodynamics • Eventually join the thrust vectoring project • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RdM8L48-nE
Or go crazy • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGimzB5QM1M
The fun you could have • ICSEDS : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4G28KfAY2sY
Thank you • You have survived a full day of me, I hope you have enjoyed yourself and take some useful things away. Take care
