Purpose of HS ELA Collaborative • Provide 9-12 English Language Arts professional learning for our region • Share resources and expertise among members • Provide a vehicle through which the 9-12 ELA CCGPS training can be implemented • Create a collaborative support group among 9-12 ELA teachers

  5. Professional Learning Topics Topics suggested by the regional data dig and the Literacy Advisory Board include: • student-involvement in assessment • data team process • effective instructional planning • writing exemplars • teacher feedback and commentary • differentiation

  6. Foundational Issues • Willingness to examine our practice in a safe environment • Establishing true standards-based English language arts classrooms • Utilizing research-based best practices • Adolescent literacy - teaching struggling high school readers • Building exemplary programs: putting it together

ELA and Mathematics: Common Core GPS Timeline • July 8, 2010 - Adopted by SBOE • 2010 - 2011 - Administrator Professional Learning/ Resource Development • 2011-2012 - Teacher Professional Learning for CCGPS and resources supporting “Bridging the Gap” (Transition for standards that shifted to different grade levels) • 2012-2013 – ELA and Math CCGPS Year 1 Implementation (Transition Standards) • 2013-2014 – ELA and Math CCGPS Year 2 Implementation; Field Test • 2014-2015 – ELA and Math CCGPS Year 3 Implementation and Common Assessment
