  5. Fort Collins CO was called Camp Collins in the 1800's . Camp Collins was a military out post of the U.S. army. Camp Collins was positioned where it is because of the Overland Trail.  Travelers hiking the Overland Trail would stop there. The population doubled in 10 years befor world war 11 . In 1870 CSU was founed !!
