History • Had their first meeting in January 1920. • Known as one of the most storied rivalries in all sports, not just in college basketball. • With the two rivals being located only 10 miles apart, the desire of fans to see their program be victorious is strong.
Interesting Facts • As of Fall 2013, these two programs have played each other a total of 236 times. • The record favors North Carolina with a total of 132 victories to Duke’s 104. • It is difficult to pinpoint one game which led to the establishment of this rivalry as one of the most premier rivalries in the sports.
