Current Environment • Since the inception of the LMS, Dalhousie University has used Blackboard and its precursor Web CT • There has never been a review of our LMS needs • Enthusiasm grew within our partner institutions (Saint Mary’s, Mount Saint Vincent, NSCAD, St. FX, King’s, Université Sainte Anne, Acadia and the Atlantic School of Theology)

  3. The Plan • Working with our partners, we are investigating the possibility of purchasing an LMS as a consortium • Put out an RFP to evaluate LMS offerings • Sandbox space from chosen vendors for evaluation

  4. Evaluation Process Steering Committee • Formal Faculty Review • Two formal meetings (beginning and end) • Survey for each LMS • Formal Student Review • Three review sessions (two to test LMS, one focus group) • Survey for each LMS • Technical Review • System admin • Accessibility • Security • LMS Features • Informal Review by Community • Online feedback mechanism • A blog for updates and questions

Timeline • October 10 – RFP Closes • October 17 – LMS Shortlist by Consortium • November 1 – Sandbox Space • November 14 – Demonstrations by Vendors • December 2 (end of classes) – Formal Evaluation evaluation completed • January 2– Informal Feedback closes • January 16 – Report submitted to Provost Committee • January 30 – Consortium decision made
