Of any commonly used building materials, wood has the lowest energy consumption and the lowest C02 emission. Due to wood's thermal insulation properties, timber frame housing uses less energy. Using wood products encourages forestry to expand, increasing the carbon sink effect and reducing the CO2 in the atmosphere. Why does the use of wood help the environment?
The Earth’s atmosphere is all around us. It is the air that we breathe. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere behave much like the glass panes in a greenhouse. Sunlight enters the Earth's atmosphere, passing through the blanket of greenhouse gases. What is the green house effect and how does it lead to climate change?
What is the carbon cycle and how does it effect climate ? The primary source of carbon/CO2 is out gassing from the Earth's interior at mid ocean ridges, hotspot volcanoes, and subduction - related volcanic arcs . Some of the out gassed carbon remains as CO2 in the atmosphere, some is dissolved in the oceans, some carbon is held as biomass in living or dead and decaying organisms, and some is bound in carbonate rocks.
