  3. Step 1: Web Authoring • Nvu • File name: • reflections.html • projects.html • Index.html

  4. Step 2: Publishing • FTP: File Transfer Protocol The program you will be using to "load" your file • WS_FTP FL (free download in resources page)

  5. Step 3: Find Your URL (Web Address) • URL: (Uniform Resource Locator): http://studentweb.cortland.edu/username/filename.html • http://studentweb.cortland.edu/water54/project1.html

  7. http:// ? • http://studentweb.cortland.edu/water54/project1.html • http:// tells the Web-browser to use the hyper-text-transfer-protocol. • studentweb.cortland.edu tells the browser to go to the Cortland web-server computer. • Username (water54) tells the browser to go to your account on the Cortland web-server computer • water54@cortland.edu – the account name is water54. • filename.html (project1.html) tells the browser to go to that file on your account.
