What is a LEP? • Voluntary partnership of public and private sector • Private sector led Board • Cover a functional economic area • Purpose to help determine local economic priorities and lead economic growth and job creation within its local area.
What do they do? • Local determination initially • Strategic Growth Plan to set priorities • Now some public funds – GPF • RGF programmes to deliver • Role in City Deals • European Funding model proposes LEP allocations • Influence skills and transport policy
