Proscalpin Tablets (Generic Finasteride 1mg Tablets) are used for treatment of the first stage of the hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) in males. Finasteride 1 mg stabilizes the process of the androgenetic alopecia (male pattern hair loss on the vertex and the anterior mid-scalp area) in the 18 to 41 year old males. For men with hair loss, Finasteride will increase the number of scalp hairs but will not increase the amount of body hair. Finasteride 1 mg Tablets prevent further hair loss in men. Men with mild to moderate, but not complete hair loss, can benefit from using Finasteride 1 mg tablets. Finasteride blocks the action of an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase. This enzyme changes testosterone to another hormone that causes hair loss in males. It will increase testosterone levels in the body, which increases hair growth on the scalp. The effect of Finasteride on the scalp will only last as long as the medicine is taken. You must continue to take this medication to maintain your hair growth. Women should not handle crushed or broken Proscalpin tablets when they are pregnant or may potentially be pregnant due to potential risk to a male fetus.
