Step 1: What to do Before Your Speech • Know your venue beforehand • What technology's are available, seating arrangements, etc. • Dress Appropriate • Business casual is the most common • Show up to the event you’ll be having your speech 15 minutes early for set up
Step 2: What to do During Your Speech • Use a PowerPoint or flashcards to highlight your main points • Tip: NEVER read them word for word • Walk with your transitions • Maintain eye contact with your audience
Step 3: What to do After Your Speech • End your speech with a clearly stated conclusion so your audience knows the speech has ended • Turn of all technology once finished • Use feedback to improve your presentation skills for next time
TIPS: Make sure to wear neutral colors If you use flashcards number them in case they lose order The better the attention-getter the more intrigued your audience becomes Use appropriate tones and expressions to spice up your speech Watch out for “ums!”
