Sepsis and Treatment • Sepsis • Life-threatening condition triggered by systemic microbial infection • End result – diffuse endovascular injury, MODS, and often death • Drotrecogin alfa (activated) (Xigris) • Adverse effects • Bleeding • Use with caution for patients at risk for bleeding
