  1. DIY Local Website Program • Beginning in September, 2004, OEA began offering a new web-hosting benefit to OEA local affiliates and organizations, including Regional Coordinating Councils and OEA District Associations. Each member organization will be provided a place to host their own web site. • Participating organizations must have the capacity to maintain a web site. This includes a technically proficient volunteer with a high-speed internet connection, a Windows based PC, and the ability and time to manage a web site. Participating affiliates and organizations will be required to enter into a legal agreement for this service. Initially, this benefit will be available to only 100 OEA member organizations that meet the criteria for participation. An attempt will be made to include organizations that vary by size, location, type, and technical skill. Training on uploading content, managing the relationship with the hosting provider, and other important topics will be provided to participants in this program. • In order to begin the process, you must fill out a short online application. The local president and the organization's technical contact will receive notification when training is available in your region.

  2. What is the goal of this program? • Provide OEA member organizations with a presence on the Internet. • Support the strategic use of technology to build stronger, more effective locals.

  3. What does OEA provide through its partner, Jumpline.com? • 24/7/365 email support from Jumpline. • Monday - Friday 9am - 9pm phone support from Jumpline. • Online support manual. • Self-administration and monitoring information. • Email accounts managed and referenced with each site. • Technical details: • 500 MB of storage. • 10,500 MB burstable monthly bandwidth. • Frontpage 2002 support. • FTP access. • Domain name in the format of http://LOCALNAME.ohea.us.

  4. How about training? • Hands-on training will be conducted at 5 regional sites to assist with the creation of your website. • Training will be focused on implementation of the website using Microsoft Frontpage and demonstration of the website features. • Each local will be provided with a training manual and a beginning template for your website.

  5. Are there any restrictions? • There are some restrictions to this program. Participants must sign an agreement to abide by OEA policies and resolutions agreed upon by the OEA Executive Committee. Also, OEA will not assist in creating or maintaining content for the site. You will be asked to supply the name of a technical contact responsible for managing the site. Technical support questions will be handled through our partner, Jumpline.

  6. How do I get started? • The program will initially be available to only 100 OEA member organizations. You will need to provide your organization president's name and email address. Also, you will need to specify a technical contact who will be responsible for maintaining the site. To get started, APPLY NOW through our online application. • http://DIYWebsite.ohea.org
