  11. WHEN TO CALL 911 FACT 911 is Dallas’ #1 tool for impacting crime. Calls are prioritized based on the severity of the situation, but all calls will be answered. Giving specific descriptive information increases the chance for resolution. Calling back if the situation changes could increase the priority of the call. What to Do Call 911 as soon as you see ANY suspicious activity, even if you’re uncertain – let the police determine if it’s criminal activity. Types of Activities to Report • Loitering • Prostitution • Panhandling • Drug Dealing • Shoplifting • Robbery • Vandalism • Assault • Trespassing Offer a Description Vehicle – color, year, make, model, license plate, including partial numbers/letters Personal Description/Style – race/sex/age….shirt, pants, shoes, hair color/style, complexion, tattoo/piercings, any weapons? 9-1-1 call center Kim Cole- Manager ~

  12. Security Action Step Proposed Timeline • April 18: Survey Results are all returned, if not returned tonight. One Vote per Household. • April 18-25: Surveys are tallied, results posted on the web by April 28 • May 15: Begin implementation of one or more Security Plan if funds are available and decision is clear • Contact your Block Captain or Area Rep if you do not have web access and want to know the results.

  13. Expanded Neighborhood Patrol • Staffed by off duty DPD or Constable officers • We need 300 members to allow this cost to be $275/ year per household. • Coverage is one officer, for 40 hours/ week. That is the budget. Could be set up as 2) officers at mid day, and still be a 40 hour budget. Cost would increase with extra vehicle. • Cost includes: officer, vehicle charge, officer’s cell phone number that members may use, signs in alleys • As membership increases, we increase hours/ number of officers depending on results

  14. Example of Camera Surveillance Cost Based on 22 Cameras, 32 Signs Camera Tuning & Support Agreement

  15. Camera Surveillance • Interviewing several companies • We need 300 members to allow this cost to be $275/ year per household. • Cost decreases after first year of purchase to $50/ year per household for maintenance • Number of cameras: 22, Number of signs: 32 • Legal- only filming areas that are available for any person to walk through • Works by warning violators they are being filmed. Can catch criminals in real time, can work to ID in prosecution • As membership increases, we increase number of cameras depending on results
