  3. Apprenticeships An apprenticeship is one option for further education and training. apprenticeships are paid positions which involve learning ‘on the job’ in a specific industry, and also learning in a classroom based environment. Bachelor’s or master’s degree Degree There are 4 levels of apprenticeships which earn the apprentice different qualifications. Higher Foundation degree Equivalent to: A level Advanced Intermediate GCSE

  4. Instructions: activity 1 Collective memory There is a list of types of apprenticeships on a wall in the classroom. Your task is to write down as many different types of apprenticeships as possible in the time given. The winning team will be the team with the most apprenticeships written down from the list. Work in small groups of 3-4 Person A will go to the apprenticeship list and remember as many as they can Person A will return to the group and tell another member of the group the apprenticeships which they can remember. This person will act as scribe and record the apprenticeships Once all the apprenticeships remembered by Person A have been recorded, Person B can go to the list and begin remembering the apprenticeships This process should be repeated, with a new person each time, until the time is up

  5. Instructions: activity 2 Categories The apprenticeships listed in the activity belong in categories, making it easier for applicants to search for them. In your groups, decide what the categories may be and which apprenticeships may fit into that category. As an example, one category is ‘Business, Administration and Law’. Hint: there are 7 categories!
