This experiment explores the effects of different proportions of three Niagara emulsifiers mixed with a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide on the surface tension of the mixture. The design follows an SLD{3,2} augmented by an overall centroid and 6 axial points. The goal is to find the optimal combination that results in the desired surface tension.

Example - Pesticide formulation: experiment with proportions of three Niagara emulsifiers mixed with a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide Factors Range x1 – emulsifier 1 0.0 – 1.0 x2 – emulsifier 2 0.0 – 1.0 x3 – emulsifier 3 0.0 – 1.0 Response: Surface tension of mixture
Design: SLD{3,2} augmented by an overall centroid and 6 axial points
Example: Formulating a solid rocket propellant Kurotori (1966)
Example – Barbuta and Lepadatu (2008) studied mixture components for polymer concrete in to reduce dosage of the expensive polymer without diminishing mechanical properties.
Example – Juan et al. (2006) investigated customer acceptance of peanut fines in polvoron a Philippine ethnic dessert or candy.
