2013 “Snap Shot” • 409 chapters/34 councils - 57,000± members • Recruited 2,556 monetary incentive qualified new chapter members • 278 Rosters submitted • Record setting 146 chapters and councils recognized as LOE winners • 200+ Communications Award submissions across all print and digital categories • Gold Bars - 4987 requests supported • 246 Legislative Chairs/Liaisons
2014 “Snap Shot” • 410 chapters/34 councils – 57,000± members • New York City chapter now affiliated • 207 rosters received and processed • Updated rosters/recruiting list sent 31 Mar • 2014 recruiting goal: 3,000 new members • LOE submissions are due on 1 Jun • 181 Communications Award submissions from 82 chapters –winners recognized! • Gold Bars – 3,149 requests to date • 336 Legislative Chairs/Liaison – up 36%
2014 Refinements • Slight refinements to incentives and tools • Retain $10 per new chapter member (Note: must be national MOAA member) • Quarterly awards – $250 council/$100 independent chapter (35/8 minimums) • Annual retention incentive - $250 for 95% and higher (minus moves/deaths) • New chapter recruiting brochure and email opt-in on application forms • Gold Bar program – added velcro for Army units and one page SOP checklist

Chapter Recruiting Steps Five Steps to Success • Step 1- Chapter roster updates • Step 2 - Review chapter recruiting materials mailed/posted in Jan • Step 3 – Review recruiting-member lists sent March 2014 (includes MOAA member e-mails) • Step 4 – Start recruiting! • Step 5 – Report new chapter members via online form or excel spreadsheet

Aspirational Goal • Achieve chapter presence in every congressional district (435) • Links chapter mission to national MOAA priorities • Personalizes chapter/legislator relationship • Provide single focal point • Two ways to satisfy the goal: • Primary: grow chapter/satellites in uncovered districts • Secondary: provide a designated legislative chair/liaison from existing chapter/satellite
Way Ahead • Council determines best course of action for district coverage • Explore opportunities for chapter/satellite development • Identify and report designated legislative chair/liaison person (name & email address) to national MOAA • New training curriculum under development • Anticipate training webinar in the Jun time frame • August recess material for face to face meetings • New Legislative Chair/Liaison track for SE regional symposium (JAX 4-6 Sep)
