  4. Now let’s learn some proverbs

  5. The early bird catches the worm. • Start early and you will get what you want.

  6. Love is blind. • When people fall in love, they cannot see each other’s weaknesses.

  7. More haste, less speed. • Don’t hurry. • It is better to work slowly and carefully than to work fast and make mistakes.

  8. Too many cooks spoil the broth. • If too many people try to help, everything goes wrong.

  9. It is no use crying over spilt milk. • If you spill milk, you waste it. You can’t pick it up again and crying won’t bring it back.

  10. Actions speak louder than words. • Some people do things. Others only talk. • What you do counts more than what you say. A promise is no good unless you carry it.

  11. Strike while the iron is hot. • Act at the right moment. The blacksmith must hammer iron into shape while it’s hot.

  12. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. • If you drop the basket and break the eggs, you won’t have any left. • It also means, don’t put all your money into the venture.

  13. Cut your coat according to your cloth. • Live within your means. If you have little money, live simply. • You can’t cut a large coat out of a small piece of cloth.

  14. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. • It’s better to have something now, and be sure of it, than to hope for many things, which you may not get.

  15. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. • People need to have fun. • Everyone needs to play sometimes.

  16. A stitch in time saves nine. • The good housewife mends things as soon as they are torn. • A little work now will save a lot of work later.

  17. Time and tide wait for no man. • We must act at the right moment. If we don’t, we will have to wait for another chance.

  18. Now try to give explanations of the proverbs yourselves

  19. Where there is a will, there is a way. If you really want to achieve something, you will

  20. Look before you leap. You should be careful before doing something

  21. Pride goes before a fall. It is not good to be proud of something a lot

  22. A friend in need is a friend indeed. A real friend is a friend who is ready to help in any situation
