Standards 1-3 Comprehension and Collaboration
Standard 1 Requires students to talk with one another as well as with the teacher.
Standard 2 Requires students to listen and understand text read aloud and information presented orally using multiple media sources.
Standard 3 • Requires students to listen to a speaker and clarify understanding of what speaker says.

Standards 4-6 Presentation of Knowledge and Ideas
Standard 4 • Requires students to orally present information to others.

Implications for Instruction • Plan for rigorous, curricular-aligned conversations between students. • See your role as facilitator, not leader, releasing ever greater responsibility so students can meet the CCSS foal of independence. • Think across students’ entire day and year when considering how to handle some of the more overreaching suggestions of the standards.
