  5. What ? • Six (6) Anchor Standards • Two (2) Subcategories • Standards 1-3 (Comprehension & Collaboration) • Standards 5-6 (Presentation of Knowledge & Ideas)

  11. Let’s talk about the standards! Pull out the vertical alignment sheet.

  12. Standards 1-3 Comprehension and Collaboration

  13. Standard 1 Requires students to talk with one another as well as with the teacher.

  14. Standard 2 Requires students to listen and understand text read aloud and information presented orally using multiple media sources.

  15. Standard 3 • Requires students to listen to a speaker and clarify understanding of what speaker says.

Implications for Instruction • Plan for rigorous, curricular-aligned conversations between students. • See your role as facilitator, not leader, releasing ever greater responsibility so students can meet the CCSS foal of independence. • Think across students’ entire day and year when considering how to handle some of the more overreaching suggestions of the standards.
