Alumni Facilitation Trainer Theodore Jones III is the New England Region Vice-Chair for the National INROADS Alumni Association (NIAA). He also serves as a member of the INROADS, Inc New England Region Board. He is a life member of the NIAA and has served as president of the INROADS Fairfield-Westchester Alumni Chapter. Theodore currently works as an independent financial advisor after over ten years in banking. In his last role he served as Vice President & Region Director of Fiduciary Services in the Wealth Management & Trust Department of People’s United Bank. Theodore Holds a Bachelors degree in Finance from Hampton University; and a Juris Doctorate from Fordham University School of Law.
The National INROADS Alumni Association The National INROADS Alumni Association (NIAA) is an organization of individual members belonging to local INROADS affiliate chapters. Officially established in 1980, the NIAA has grown from a few concerned alumni to 40 alumni chapters across the US. As part of INROADS, Inc., whose mission is to develop and place talented minority youth in business and industry and prepare them for corporate and community leadership, the NIAA "makes the dream a reality" through its actions and positive presence in local communities.
The NIAA’s Mission Recognizing that we are the true measure of INROADS’ success, we commit ourselves to facilitate the network of our members, to promote the personal and professional development of our members and to be recognized as a valued resource to the INROADS organization and civic communities.
Facilitator Certification Program The NIAA New England Region has established this new “train-the-trainer” program with the intent of producing a ready resource of facilitators. The expectation is that by standardizing the preparedness of the facilitators, we can further the intern’s training experience.
Certification Process Candidates that desire the Facilitator Certification must perform both of the following: Complete Pre-certification Training; and Facilitate at least one 2010 Summer Workshop Just do it!
Certification Process Certified Facilitators will receive a certificate of recognition in the mail at the end of the summer.
Who May Participate? All friends of INROADS are eligible for certification upon completion of steps one and two. . Examples: Alumni Corporate Partners Friends in the Professional Community
INROADS Workshops The INROADS summer workshops are our opportunity to enlighten the interns on the nuances of the corporate environment. The workshops serve to encourage interns both professionally and personally toward having a productive role in the community.
2010 Learning Summit Overview Each year the INROADS training has a theme. This year’s theme is: “Leadership is not an option, but a responsibility” Learning Summit training is primarily organized around core competencies relative to each interns academic standing. In addition, interns have the opportunity to ‘SELECT’ two workshops of interest as a training supplement.
INROADS Orientation/Summer Kickoff Each summer interns look forward to the first event in the INROADS internship process. For all new interns the INROADS Orientation, facilitated by the staff, sets the tone for the entire summer process. These interns then attend the two workshops that are critical to their success in the workplace Integrity at Work True Colors: Celebrating Our Differences
INROADS Orientation/Summer Kickoff The Summer Kickoff Program, simultaneous with orientation, seeks to re-enforce the high expectations of INROADS’ staff in the minds of all our interns. This year the staff will be facilitating a discussion on: GROWing: How to Manage Your Coaching Relationship for your Benefit In addition, a plenary session on, “how to stand out and ace your internship for Long Term Career Success”, is conducted as the initial summer workshop.
2010 Workshop OverviewIntern Select Sessions The Select Sessions focus on non-traditional skill building INROADS feels is beneficial to the intern. Each Intern gets to select (2) sessions for the following list: Speed Networking Financial Literacy: Your Life, Your Money Building Boss Relationships Personally Speaking The “IT” Factor How to use Social Networking in your Professional Life .
