Flaring/Swaging Tools • 1) Tools • a) Swag tool • 1) Used to expand the soft drawn copper tubing. Joins two pieces of the same size • 2) Sizes, 3/16”, ¼”, 5/16”, 3/8”, ½”, ¾” • 3) Swag joint • a) Depth would be the diameter of the tubing • b) Side clearance would be 1/1000” – 6/1000”
Flaring/Swaging Tools • C) Tubing cutters/Constrictors • 1) Midget cutter is used for small diameter copper tubing or in tight places • 2) Cutter Constrictor • a) Constrictor wheel, used to make a constrictor joint for domestic application • 3) Constrictor Joint • a) Large and small tubing joined, example ½ inch to ¼ inch • 4) Tool Placement • a) Small roller to the end of large tubing • 5) Small Tubing Depth • a) Past constriction diameter of large tube

Tube to Drier • 1) Cut cap. tube, score tube with a file, break by hand • 2) Put fingers on last ¼ inch, which prevents allow flow into cap. Tube • 3) Insert cap. tube to screen, back up ¼ inch
