Why do people smell different things when they are smelling the same chemical? • Humans have only 5-6 million cells in nose that are set aside for smell … dogs have 220 million … so our sense of smell isn’t as refined … genetic mutation will lead to more disparity in humans then dogs. • Our sense of smell is best when we are around 8 yrs old. • Smell is something you can practice and get better at. • Humans can smell about 10,000 distinct odors.

  8. Why doesn’t sulfuric acid burn through plastic? Sulfuric acid is a polar molecule that dissolves in water. Glass and plastic are molecular non-polar compounds that are water insoluble. Sulfuric acid needs to dissolve in order to be acidic.
