2. Defining Relative Clauses A relative clause can define the thing or person introduced in the main clause. It comes immediately after the person or thing it is describing. Use: Who – people Which – things That – people and things
3. Examples Hugh Jackman is the actor who plays Wolverine in the X-men movies. A bakery is a store which sells bake goods, like cakes, pies and rolls.
4. PAY ATTENTION Subject ! When the relative pronoun is the subject of the verb, it can never be omitted. Verb People who come from Rio de Janeiro are called Cariocas. ! When the relative pronoun is the object of the verb, it can be omitted. The work which you do is very interesting.

Real Conditionals Real conditional sentences – also known as first conditional - are used to talk about present or future situations that are real and possible, including promises, warnings and threats. If-clause – in most real conditional sentences, you use a present tense in the if-clause, even when you talk about the future.
7. Unless you start studying now, you’ll never pass your exams. = If you don’t start studying now, you’ll never pass your exams. Unless: it means the same as If…not. Main Clause– you usually use the simple present, modal auxiliaries (especially will/won’t, can, must, and may), or the imperative in the main clause.

9. Wishes and regrets I wish / if only are two ways of talking about unreal situations. You can use them to express wishes or regrets about the present or the past. Form: Wish / If only + simple past: talk about a present situation you would like to change. I wish I hadmoney I wish I travelledall over the world.
10. Wish / If only + past perfect: talk about a regret. Something that happened in the past, but you cannot change it. I gotsuspendedfromschool. Ifonly I hadn’tbeencaughtcheating I wish I hadstudiedfor thetestso I wouldn’thave to cheat.

Unreal conditionals Unreal conditionals are used to describe an imaginary situation: 2nd conditional: imaginary situations in the present Form: If + subject + SimplePast,subject + would + verb 3rdconditional: imaginary situations in the past Form: If + subject + Pastperfect, subject + would + have + pastparticiple
13. Examples You don’t have time to watch your favorite TV shows. If I had more time, I would watch my favorite TV shows. If I hadn’teaten that much cake, I wouldn’t have felt a horrible stomachache later. You ate the cake and got a stomachache

15. Have / get something done (causative) In causative forms, the subject of the sentence doesn’t do the action but it is responsible for what happens. Form: Have + object + past participle (3rd) Get + object + past participle (3rd) *remember… when you use GET you are more informal.
16. Examples I got my hair cut by a professional stylist. I have my house cleaned twice a week.
