The finished work of Christ 2-5-12
What else is finished in this work of Christ on the cross? Death is finished, in Christ and we have a new image because of death with Christ. It is finished by the process of life and death! How can this be? First death…
Gal 2:20) “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Rom 6:3) Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
Rom 6:4) Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Col 3:3) For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Rom 6:6) knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7) For he who has died has been freed from sin.
8) Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, Rom 7:6) But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.
Col 2:20) Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations– 21) “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,”
Christian creation or Christian evolution? Sometimes we as Christians who totally abhor evolution, seem to be okay with letting it slide in with the spiritual realm. We say things like: Someday, I will be dead Someday, I will be alive
Someday I will control this rebel flesh Someday I will be righteous “I” ?????? What is “I” ??? Someday? No! Today is the day!!!!!! LIFE!!
Col 2:12) buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 2 Pet 1:3) as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
4) by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Eph 2 1) And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
Col 2:13) And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 1 Cor 15:22) For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. Next week: more new image truths!
Rom 7:18) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.
You cannot become righteous, God makes you righteous and it, can only be, this way. For if we are of the old Adam it is corrupt and grows corrupt. Eph 4:22) that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,
You cannot improve on it and make it righteous. Romans 7:21) I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. 22) For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. 23) But I see another law in my members,
warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24) O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
You cannot change your image by what you do. Death only produces death. John 3:6) “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 1 Cor 15:47) The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven.
48) As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. 49) And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man. Eph 2:10) For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
Eph 2:6) and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, Only when the Spirit of God is imputed to us do we come alive. John 3:6) “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 3:3) Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Eph 2:1) And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, Man is unable to redeem himself nor can he make propitiation for himself nor make a dead thing alive he is powerless and in the flesh, and it is is impossible to be redeem by him.
Col 3:10) and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, Next week: created in Christ Jesus
