  2. 3. On-going Activities of IPCC TFI • Publicity • Pamphlets • Primer for 2006 Guidelines • Website • Software • FAQ • Emission Factor Database (EFDB) • Review:LULUCF Guidance • Uncertainty • Tier 3 models & measurements

  4. Support to users for better understanding of IPCC Guidelines • Primer for 2006 IPCC Guidelines • Available from TFI website (see below) • Summary of the basic approach for inventory development and guidance on their use • Easy to read – expected to serve as quick guidance on 2006 IPCC Guidelines • FAQ (Answers to frequently asked questions) • Developed and maintained by TSU in consultation with authors of 2006 IPCC Guidelines. http://www.ipcc-nggip.iges.or.jp/support/support.html http://www.ipcc-nggip.iges.or.jp/faq/faq.html

  5. Support to users for inventory preparation following IPCC Guidelines • Emission Factor Database (EFDB) • Library of a wide range of well documented emission factors and other parameters to help users (inventory compilers) select those that best reflect their national circumstances • Supplements all the IPCC Guidelines/GPGs • Available through the internet and in the form of CDROM • Efforts being continuously made to get a wider range of EFs (expert meetings for data collection, literature search, etc.) • Open to relevant data proposals – New proposals welcomed!! • New data will be evaluated for acceptance by EFDB Editorial Board. http://www.ipcc-nggip.iges.or.jp/EFDB/

  6. Support to users for inventory preparation following IPCC Guidelines • Software for 2006 IPCC Guidelines • Under development – To be completed by the end of 2010 • Aimed at those with limited resources and/or experience • To implement the simplest estimation methods in 2006GLs • To assist users implement: • Key category analysis • Uncertainty calculation • QA/QC • Data archives • Prototype (only for Energy)is now available at TFI website http://www.ipcc-nggip.iges.or.jp/support/support.html

  7. Other activities • Additional guidance to help inventory compilers work on AFOLU (or LULUCF) sector • e.g. IPCC-FAO-IFAD Expert Meeting on FAO Data for LULUCF/AFOLU (October 2009) • Support to capacity building programmes implemented by other organizations • Participation in workshops/meetings as resource person • CGE workshops, UNFCCC project for Southeast Asian countries, NCSP workshops, Training courses for developing country experts organized by Japan, etc. • Provision of materials such as CDROMs • Answer to questions sent to TSU through website
