Clue #1 Landforms Bottle analysis found interesting granules in bottle, quartzite, dolerite ,& basalt Recovered text: Our CSI laboratory analysis deciphers washed – away writing on the message enclosed in bottle. The pressure used when writing the note left some letter indentions that gave clues to the piece missing. “It’s quite beautiful here. There are MOUNTAINS with WATERFALLS & a BEAUTIFUL RAIN FOREST. Clue #2 Plant Life (flora) & Climate Small pieces of bark removed from the bottle was the Huon pine. There are all kinds of plants here there are some very tall trees,& you can smell the eucalyptus that grows here. Eucalyptus Tree There was also bark from Swamp Gum trees
Clue # 3 Animal Life (fauna) Small leathery pieces found in the bottle are from an egg of a Echidna. There are also small feathers from a Spotted Pardalote, & a small piece of fece from a white-footed dunnart. There are some strange-looking animals around here. There’s one with tiny eyes & a long snout. It has big digging claws . It seems to eat ants. There are also birds with black wings & greenish bodies. Echidna It is a small egg laying mammal. This is the Spotted Pardalote.
Clue #4 Latitude • Recovered text: using a crude sun dial we were able to figure out that our latitude. It is 42°. Please find us soon. We look at the Southern Cross each night.
