Warm-Up 8/29/12Write down the verb from each sentence and label it A (Active) or P (Passive). • Both of the boys finished the homework in an hour. • What kind of cake has he baked for the party? • We have been given another week for that assignment. • The deer trotted warily to the side of the highway. • Most of us have learned a little Spanish. • Most of these stories were written in the 1920s. • Did you take an earlier bus? • Announcements are read daily at 3:00. • My grandparents were raised on a cattle ranch. • Please take that wet dog out of the house.

Practice.Write A if active, P if Passive. • The new bill was presented to Congress by Senator Thompson. • Montreal was defeated by Pittsburgh, eight to two. • Low-flying planes impaired our TV reception. • The delicate glass was dropped accidentally by Maria. • The novel Ethan Frome was written by Edith Wharton. • Excessive heat and a lack of rain ruined the crops last summer. • The pitcher is throwing fast curve balls. • The play Romeo and Juliet was performed by the drama class last week. • The best-actor award had been won by a newcomer to the screen. • Carlo was elected president of the Student Council by the student body.
