Brookland Middle will have rigorous middle school offerings that prepare students for success in high school, college, and career Proposed Course Offerings for Grades 6-8 • Advanced math offerings, including Algebra I and Geometry • Extended day program allowing for additional arts or languages programming • Three years of language study, including opportunity to earn high school credit • Integration of the arts into the school day, including visual and performing arts and extracurricular activities District of Columbia Public Schools | October 2014
All Brookland students will have the opportunity to take three years of language study • 7th and 8th grade students will take one modern language course, equivalent to .5 credits each year, for a total of one year of high school credit^ • 6th graders will take exploratory courses, including Latin and a modern language, to build a foundation in language study • Language offerings have not yet been determined – DCPS will gather planning principal, parent, and community input when making this decision Language course offerings Grade 6 (exploratory) Grade 7 Grade 8 Language for.5 Credit Part B Latin Modern Language Language for.5 Credit Part A ^ During SY15-16, 8th grade students will take exploratory language courses District of Columbia Public Schools | October 2014
