CELEBRATE • The Sport Hall of Fame will surely become a place of celebration for a sport-loving public. • It will be a permanent venue, under one roof, to honour all the heroes and heroines of sport who have made outstanding contributions to South Africa. • The Hall of Fame will honour the past, but also play a core role in building the future of South African sport through an outstanding outreach initiative - the Hall of Fame Talent Identification Programme.

GOALS Sporting Goals of the SA Sport Hall of Fame • to remember and honour sporting greats from all sport disciplines in South Africa • to help improve and maintain standards in South African sport in order to achieve a high level of excellence • to identify talented young sportspersons • to encourage both their academic and sport education • to provide bursaries to such persons on the basis of need • to promote new sports technologies and training methods • to encourage more South Africans to support sport
GOALS Social goals of the SA Sport Hall of Fame • to contribute to national unity • to create employment opportunities • to contribute to the economic, social and cultural development of the country • to enhance South African tourism • to attract foreign investment
SCORE KEEPERS The Hall of Fame Trust is a non-profit company that has been established exclusively to receive and manage the funding of the Hall of Fame and to ensure full disclosure and transparency. The following prominent sports personalities have agreed to serve as Trustees: Naas Botha, Peter Bacela, Gary Bailey, Steve Khompela, Butityi Konki, Phillip Ndou, Ntambi Ravele and Jomo Sono
PLAYING FIELD The Management Company believes: • the best location for the Hall of Fame would be in an environment that would offer a high measure of supporting services and structures • the Sport Hall of Fame should form part of a large resort complex probably in a coastal area where tourism flourishes • the Hall of Fame is a national project and will not be confined to any one site or area
PLAYING FIELD • The Headquarters of the Hall of Fame, along with some of its associated businesses, will be situated in Gauteng. • Other projects and events will take place throughout South Africa including Cape Town, Durban and Bloemfontein
SELECTION • Every South African sportsperson of all sports disciplines, including sports for the disabled, are eligible for nomination. These may be individuals, teams or administrators • They must have have demonstrated exceptional achievement in a sport and/or have contributed in an exceptional way to their sport, thereby making an important and positive contribution to the country • A distinguished panel of persons representing a wide knowledge and experience of South African sport in all its historic facets will be established and supported by a team of research assistants
PLAYERS The South African Hall of Fame will sustain itself financially through at least five affiliated business structures: • Hall of Fame Events - the venue will host sports events, celebrity events, dinners and concerts • Hall of Fame Media - this group will be responsible for marketing • Hall of Fame Merchandise - a range of merchandise in the form of high-quality clothing, sporting equipment, stationery and various memorabilia • Hall of Fame Resort - the resort will have an 18-hole golf course and clubhouse, boutique hotel and rental-pool units
SUPPORTERS Hall of Fame Memberships • Various membership packages targeting different ‘markets’ both corporate and individual will be offered The Captains’ Club • Exclusive membership to the Captains’ Club will be open to application by any person who has been a captain of a sports team
TALENT ID • This initiative will include the sports exhibition that has been installed at the Science Museum in London for the past 4 years • The system uses the latest technology and computer analysis to measure sport ability. • One unit will be located in Gauteng, another will travel around country scouting for a new generation of sports stars that will one day enter the Hall of Fame
TALENT ID • Those who are tested will be introduced to the sport in which they are most likely to excel • The most promising will be referred to appropriate coaching facilities such as high performance academies • Should these exceptional talents require financial support the Hall of Fame will offer it in the form of bursaries
