Objectives • Complement Culture Company’s programme • Showcase libraries and promote our resources • Increase customer participation in the city’s 5 libraries • Increase library membership by encouraging • non-members to attend events and become members • Achieve attendance figures of 1500 by December 2013
Programme of Events • Calendar of free events taking place throughout the year in the city’s 5 libraries • The wide ranging programme offers something for everyone - literature, music, drama, heritage, talks and exhibitions • Working Party established to plan programme and comprised representatives from Theme staff – Culture, Heritage, Learning and Information • Programme launched by Minister Carál Ní Chuilín, Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure and • Irene Knox, Chief Executive of Libraries NI
Public Relations Plan • Brochure mailed to library users in the city’s libraries • Brochure distributed in libraries,Tourist offices, • City of Culture office, cafes, schools and colleges • Posters and flyers for individual events in libraries • Web and Email Banners and online brochure to be activated throughout the year • Facebook promotions and Twitter hashtags used to keep social media momentum going • Press release for each event
Legacy • Portrait of a City • Portrait of a City will use digital technology to collect old and recent photographs, recording the stories behind the images of the past and present • Libraries NI, working in partnership with the Culture Company 2013, will encourage local communities to • build up a digital bank of photographs as an important legacy for future generations
