WHAT MAKES A GOOD MANAGER? • 1. Communicate what you want, & listen to what others are saying. • 2. Respect your employees, & make them feel like an important part of the operation. • 3. Give employees a living wage. • 4. Look into benefit packages. • 5. Give younger workers an opportunity.

Satisfy Employee Needs • 1. Employees have needs that they desire to satisfy, (which in turn) • 2. Leads to actions that will fulfill their needs, (which in turn) • 3. Leads to rewards, (which in turn) • 4. Reinforces their actions and cause them to be repeated.
Jobs (cont.) • 3. Jobs should be designed so that the employee understands the significance of his job to the farm. • 4. Jobs should be designed so that each employee has responsibility, challenge, freedom and the opportunity to be creative. • 5. Supervisors should incorporate feed back into each job.
Build a Reputation • THIS IS A GOOD PLACE TO WORK! • 1. Be known as a good place to work. • 2. Provide training for employees so that they can do well in their job. • 3. Show trust in employees by delegating authority & responsibility. • 4. Catch people doing things right & say! • THANK YOU!!
