Partnership working by Lorna Grant Baccalaureate Development Manager email – Lorna.Grant@sqa.org.uk telephone – 0845 213 5460
Key Principles • To assist our young people in making the transition from school to FE/HE or employment • To encourage collaboration between schools and FE/HE institutions • To ensure that qualified staff and resources are available for learners to complete the project • To assess planning, implementation and evaluation • To show the relevance of languages in broader contexts
Issues Raised • Attracting sufficient numbers of candidates • Timetabling issues • Inter-disciplinary cooperation • Lack of confidence in project development • The need to work across sectors • Making links with employers • Quality issues
How Partnerships Can Address These Issues • Combining small numbers from different centres and sharing time allocations • Providing greater possibilities for cross departmental collaboration • Sharing ideas/good practice and providing mutual support • Giving access to a range of equipment/resources/expertise • Offering a more adult environment and opportunities to meet candidates from other centres • Strengthening existing links with local employers • Sharing the assessment and internal verification process
What kind of partnerships/networks are operating this session? • University/school/local authority • College/school/local authority • University/college/school/local authority • School/school/local authority • University/college/school/employer • Interdisciplinary • Pupil collaboration
