  2. Pre-IB English: Summer reading assignment due Summer reading class activity Homework: -3 memories due on Tuesday -Please have your composition book on Tuesday.

  3. Summer Reading • Brainstorm the following questions. Be prepared to discuss them in depth in about 15 minutes: 1. Overall, would you recommend the novel to friend? Explain. 2. Why do you think it was an option for your summer reading assignment? 3. You were to focus on figurative language in your responses. What was one you focused your attention on? Why? 4(a). Go back and read the opening scene? Why do you think the author began his/her novel with this scene? OR 4(b). How else would you imagine it could have ended? 5. Choose one of the responses you wrote for your assignment and be prepared to read it to your group.

Quick Write Feedback: • Opening statement • “I like how the author….” • “I” • Too simplistic • Make sure it addresses something to prove/analyze • Properly identify the text • Don’t summarize the story • Too much…narrow your focus • Lack of text support • “really” and “very” • There vs. Their vs. They’re • A lot is always two words, never one • P.O.V.
