  1. I can be interdependent! “Everybody can use some help sometimes.” “We can rely on each other for support.” Being interdependent means: • I will work hard to reach my goals. • I can ask for help when I need it. • I can rely on others to see me through tough times.

  2. To learn to become interdependent, I will follow TOTAL Therapy.

  3. hink about my wants and needs “I am good at some things; I can work to be better in others!” • I should figure out what: • I am good at? • I like to do? • I need help with? • I want to be able to do? • Once I know these, I can help set my goals…

  4. wn my IEP goals • I have an Individualized Education Program (IEP). It contains: • how I am doing in school • my goals for the year • I can: • help set my IEP goals by expressing what I think is important to me • help plan the assistance I need to reach these goals • participate in my own IEP meeting

  5. reatment plan with my PT “Practice, Practice, practice!” • In order to reach my goals, I need to work with my PT to figure out: • What exercises and activities do I need? • What equipment do I need? (wheelchair, crutches, leg brace, special seating, etc.) • What accommodations do I need? (more time to get from one classroom to another, stand in front of line, etc.) • What assistance do I need? (supervision, physical assistance, etc.)

  6. dvocate for myself “Everybody needs help sometimes.” • When I am unable to do something by myself, I can ask others for help. • For example, I can ask others for: • directions, detailed instructions • physical assistance • special accommodations • I will learn to communicate how I can be assisted.

  7. earn from my actions “Every time I try to do something, I can learn something new!” • I can learn to monitor my own progress. • I can learn to tell whether something is working or not. • If something is not working, I should change my approach or try something else that might work. • If something is working, I should remember how I did it correctly. • I can learn to control my behavior and emotions in different situations.

  8. Here are some things I can use when applying TOTAL Therapy!
