Housekeeping Items • Please hand in your “Origins” assignments • Read the rest of the PowerPoint slides on your own; if we have time I will go back to them today • I will like to show part of a film from the VIU Library: “Peace, Propaganda, and the Promised Land” • The key points I would make before I show it are: • a lot of the imagery is violent, so be forewarned; • it is not strictly a Jews vs. Arab issue; over 50% of the critical voices in the film are themselves Jews; • the media bias showcased is largely characteristic of the Canadian media as well; • the Canadian government is currently even more uncritically supportive of Israel than the U.S.; • media bias in the presentation of this issue is often characteristic of many other international issues.
