When you hear your fire alarm go off, your most important job is to GET OUT!!
Important smoke detector fact! You are supposed to change the batteries in all smoke detectors at least once a year!
To get out safely… If there is smoke in the room where you are, get down on your knees and crawl to the door. CRAWL TO THE DOOR!!
When you are at the door… take the BACK of your hand and place it on the middle of the door to feel if it is HOT
If the door is HOT,find another exit.If the door is COOL,try exiting through it
Make a Family Meeting Place Incase of a FIRE!!! The emergency meeting place should be close enough to walk to from your house but not close enough where you might get hurt. *Many families make a close stop sign their “meeting place.”
If you are trapped in a room… HELP!! Go to your window and open it. Then start yelling for HELP!
You should always havea back up plan to exit the room For example: -Store a safety ladder in your bedroom (there are many made to fit under a bed)
