  3. History of NBA • Started from ABA (American Basketball Association) in 1946 with 11 teams • Other league named NBL (National Basketball League) • Combined together in 1946 → NBA!

  4. History of NBA • ABA + NBL = NBA • Started with 27 teams • 2 Canadian teams were added • Separated Eastern division and Western division • In 1970, the division was changed to conference.

  5. History of NBA • Now, there are six divisions in two conferences • 29 American teams with 1 Canadian team
