Overview of Progress • What is the progress of the project? • What issues have you faced? • How have you overcome them? • What plans do you have to maintain the improvement in capacity or functionality? • What is your plan to progress the project (including timelines)? • What have you learnt from the project so far?
Progress of the project • Overall NSDS will be developed in collaboration with PARIS 21 but excluding Economic Statistics component • Economic Statistics component will be developed with ESCAP collaboration • Review Questionnaire sample reviewed by DCS and comments shared with ESCAP • Availability of Statistical data & key stakeholder institutions identified which will be refined during ESCAP Mission
Issues • Public Invest Plan (PIP) of the Government is yet to be published, and we have to interlining the NSDS with PIP; the overall development plan for the next 3-5 years. • Capacity gap analysis and capacity development plan should be adjusted accordingly • Demand for certain sectors and new statistical indicators for economic component should be evaluated. • The demand for new indicators and high-quality statistics for monitoring and evaluating progress of new economic development strategy, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) etc.
Overcoming the issues • Preparation of drafts and plans which will be fine-tuned no sooner the Public Invest Plan (PIP) of the Government is out • Ongoing capacity enhancement process such as application of advancement of ICT to improve quality and timeliness of statistics • List of sectors identified and data availability mapping is ready
Plans to maintain the improvement(capacity / functionality) • Continuous capacity building and technical improvements through a number of collaborative projects • Partnerships formed with local institutions UN Agencies and other institutions
Plan to progress / timelines • Application of advancement in ICT for improving timeliness and quality of official statistics • Use of online communication (website and social media) for dissemination of official statistics
